Brow Lift vs. Blepharoplasty, Which One is Right for Me?

If you are repeatedly asked if you are tired or feeling okay, you may be struggling with sagging skin around your eye area. If this is impacting your confidence, there may be an easy solution. At the Lanfranchi Center, there are a couple of ways to resolve sagging eyelids, drooping eyebrows, and permanent bags under the eyes.

What is a Brow Lift?

A brow lift minimizes signs of aging by lifting the eyebrow back to its original position. The eyebrow begins to sag below the bone as we age, causing a tired expression. To remedy the sagging, your body instinctively raises the eyebrow, causing forehead lines.

With a modified approach to the traditional brow lift, Dr. Lanfranchi restores the original position of the eyebrow with virtually no chance of an over-elevation of the brow–the cause of the surprised expression. Eyebrow rejuvenation is done under localized anesthesia and incisions along the hairline. The recovery time takes approximately a week when Dr. Lanfranchi removes the stitches.

What is Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty minimizes signs of aging by removing excess skin and bulging fat bags on the upper or lower eyelid. There is no change to the eyebrows, as it adjusts the thin skin on the eyelids. The recovery time is short for upper and lower eyelid lifts, taking around 3-4 days.

Upper Eyelid Lift

Upper eyelid rejuvenation is done through hairline incisions on the natural crease of both upper eyelids. The lift does not change the shape of the eye. Instead, an upper eyelid lift removes the excess skin and fat to tighten the appearance of the eye, minimizing the drooping of the eyelid. It also can make makeup easier to apply and improve eyesight if the eyelids droop over your field of vision.

Lower Eyelid Lift

Lower eyelid rejuvenation is done through an incision on the natural creases of skin to adjust the fat pads, remove excess skin, and tighten underlying muscles. The lower eyelid lift addresses bags under the eyes or dark hollows below the eyes. It can reduce the appearance of perpetual exhaustion and brighten your overall look.

Which One is Best for Me: Eyebrow Lift or Blepharoplasty?

These two rejuvenation techniques reduce signs of aging that make you look fatigued. To choose which one is best for you, consider your symptoms. Eyebrow lifts may be best for you if you struggle with:

  • Noticeable lines and wrinkles on your forehead
  • Weight on the upper eye
  • Eyebrow sitting below the bone

People often choose to get upper eyelid lifts simultaneously to improve their appearance. Upper eyelid lifts may be best for you if you struggle with:

  • Drooping eyelids (hooding)
  • Impaired vision due to hooding
  • Loose, thin skin on the eyelid

In contrast, lower eyelid lifts may be best for you if you struggle with:

  • Bags under the eyes
  • Impaired vision due to puffiness under the eyes
  • Dark hollows under the eyes

Discuss with Dr. Lanfranchi about your goals to determine the best plan for you.

Stellar Service from Start to Finish

Two months ago I had a lower lifestyle facial lift. I was apprehensive, but it was well worth the effort and expense. Dr. Lanfranchi and his entire staff were kind, caring and very professional, from the first meeting to the follow up appointments.

The procedure is done under a local, not general anesthetic, and it was easy. I healed quickly and am very satisfied with the results.
His fee was very reasonable. Any further facial work I want done, I will be sure to come back here.
