How Does a Neck Lift Work?

The neck area experiences constant motion as we turn and move our heads. It is also frequently exposed to the sun and elements, expediting signs of aging. As a result, it can develop loose skin, separated muscles, and loss of definition. A neck lift restores the neck and jawline to a sculpted, youthful appearance.

What is a Neck Lift?

A neck lift is also known as a lower rhytidectomy, literally a lower facelift. This procedure is often performed with a facelift but can also be performed alone. Dr. Lanfranchi specializes in the neck and lower face area with his TLC Lift™. A neck lift addresses concerns such as loose neck skin, submental (under the chin) fullness, and neck bands. Dr. Lanfranchi customizes each neck lift to address your needs.

How Does a Neck Lift Work?

The steps of a neck lift will depend on your areas of greatest concern. Dr. Lanfranchi may remove excess skin, repair separated platysma muscles to erase neck bands, and use liposuction to reduce accumulated fat. The type of anesthesia used depends on the extent of your procedure, with local and general anesthetics available. Most of the neck lifts Dr. Lanfranchi performs are combined with a facelift, which provides full anti-aging benefits.

What are the Benefits of a Neck Lift?

A neck lift offers a natural-looking way to restore a youthful neck and jawline. Benefits of this procedure include:

  • Tightening and smoothing the skin on the neck
  • Reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the neck
  • Creating a more defined jawline
  • Restoring a youthful appearance to the neck and lower face
  • Boosting self-confidence and self-esteem

How Long Does a Neck Lift Last?

Neck lifts can last a long time, but they cannot stop the aging process. Neck lifts usually last at least seven to ten years. You will eventually start to notice some laxity and other signs of aging. You can prolong the effects of the procedure with sun protection, quality skincare products, and non-surgical treatments.

What is Recovery Like After a Neck Lift?

Recovery times vary based on the extent of the procedure and your natural healing responses. Bruising and swelling start to resolve within the first week. You may be able to return to work within five to ten days. Most people have some residual swelling that can last for several weeks. Your final results will emerge as this swelling resolves.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Neck Lift?

Good candidates for a neck lift want to correct signs of aging in the neck area. Ideal candidates do not smoke and have no health problems that would affect the procedure or your recovery. If you have concerns about your cheeks, lower face, and neck, you may be an excellent candidate for a neck and facelift.

I had seen on tv where a doctor in Beverly Hills was doing neck lifts by doing local anesthetic. They showed a star that had it done and mentioned other ones he had done. I started searching and was told by a friend that Dr. Lanfranchi used the same technique. I called the next day for an appointment . I was so impressed with the Doctor and the staff that I scheduled a neck lift and chin implant for the following week. It was like going to the dentist. Immediately I could see the difference. I had a little discomfortable the first night and the next day I took Tylenol. I cannot express how thrilled I am. I have had a lot of procedures done and this was a very easy one. If you are considering having this done, Dr. Lanfranchi is the one to do it. If I could give him and his staff ten stars I would.
