How Much Recovery Time is Required With Facial Fat Transfer?
Recovery time for facial fat transfers will vary from patient to patient. After your procedure at TLC, you may experience mild pain, swelling, and bruising. During the healing process, you will need to wear compression garments to help reduce side effects like swelling and bleeding. You may return to work (office job) within 3-7 days and slowly resume your physical activities after two weeks.
What is Facial Fat Transfer Like?
Before your facial fat transfer procedure, the TLC surgical team will give you a local anesthetic to make sure you don’t feel any pain during your wide-awake session. Dr. Lanfranchi will begin the procedure by making small incisions on your body and inserting a cannula (thin, straw-like tube) to remove excess fat.
Next, he will cleanse and purify your fat in a rotating machine that will separate your fat components into different layers. This process will help make sure that no damaged fat cells are injected into your face. Finally, Dr. Lanfranchi will inject your cleansed fat into specific areas of your face you wish to target and improve.
Depending on your skin needs and aesthetic goals, you may receive fat transfer injections on several areas of your face that need volume, such as the lips, nasolabial folds, cheeks, forehead, under-eye areas, and more!
Is Facial Fat Transfer Safe?
Facial fat transfers are safe when performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon who has experience performing this procedure. Facial fat transfer is a wonderful alternative to dermal fillers or other injectable treatments. One of the main advantages of this procedure is that it uses your own natural tissue, so there is no risk of allergic reaction or rejection like dermal fillers. Additionally, because the fat is coming from your own body, there is also a lower risk of infection.
