The delicate skin around the eyes often shows signs of aging before other parts of the face. A lower eyelid lift can restore the undereye area to a more youthful appearance. At the same time, it will help you look more rested and alert.
What is a Lower Eyelid Lift?
A lower eyelid lift treats dark circles and hollows under the eyes, sagging, and wrinkles in the lower eyelid, and excess fat that can give the eyes a “puffy” appearance. To provide even more rejuvenation, Dr. Lanfranchi can combine a lower eyelid lift with several other procedures, including an upper eyelid lift or brow lift. With his specialization in facial plastic surgery, Dr. Lanfranchi can explain all your options and what might give you the best results.
How Does a Lower Eyelid Lift Work?
During a lower eyelid lift, you will stay awake under local anesthesia. The process takes about an hour. Dr. Lanfranchi will use an incision hidden in a crease of the lower eyelid to lift and remove loose skin, rearrange or remove accumulated fat pads, and tighten muscles. The procedure lifts away dark circles, eliminates the puffiness caused by fat pads, and tightens the undereye area to reduce a dark, hollow-looking appearance.
How Long is Recovery From a Lower Eyelid Lift?
Recovery from a lower eyelid lift is usually quick and uncomplicated. You may have some swelling in the area for a few days, but you can return to work and your normal activities within three or four days. Follow Dr. Lanfranchi’s recommendations on how to care for the area after the procedure.
What are the Benefits of a Lower Eyelid Lift?
A lower eyelid lift offers many benefits that reduce the appearance of tired, aging eyes.
- Elimination of dark circles and always looking tired
- Removal of undereye bags
- Tighter skin with fewer wrinkles and less sagging
- Adjustment of the fat pads to eliminate puffiness
- Restored connections between the eye and facial muscles
If you have concerns about the upper eyelid area, a lower and upper eyelid lift works well together and give you a complete eye rejuvenation. Upper eyelid concerns can include drooping skin and wrinkles.
How Long Does a Lower Eyelid Lift Last?
A lower eyelid lift will last a lifetime for most people. You can extend the longevity of your results by using a dermatologist-recommended skincare product targeted for the eye area. You can also make sure to use sunscreen and protect your eye area from the sun.
Am I a Good Candidate for a Lower Eyelid Lift?
If you have dark circles, under eye bags, or sagging lower eyelid skin, you may be a good candidate for a lower eyelid lift. This procedure can produce a remarkable improvement in your appearance, including looking more alert, awake, and youthful.
Stellar Service from Start to Finish
Two months ago I had a lower lifestyle facial lift. I was apprehensive, but it was well worth the effort and expense. Dr. Lanfranchi and his entire staff were kind, caring and very professional, from the first meeting to the follow up appointments.
The procedure is done under a local, not general anesthetic, and it was easy. I healed quickly and am very satisfied with the results.
His fee was very reasonable. Any further facial work I want done, I will be sure to come back here.
