According to the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery survey, over 40 percent of surgeons reported that looking better in selfies on Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook was an incentive for getting surgery. Over 50 percent of facial plastic surgeons saw an increase in cosmetic surgery or injectables with patients under 30, despite the minimum age for most procedures being 18.
Reveals Dr. Lanfranchi, “the popularity of achieving that perfect “selfie” is evident with the numerous apps that can pinch your waist, soften lines, elongate your face, plump your lips and take years off your age. I don’t underestimate the power of social media with its influence and how it has become chic for women in the early 20’s to begin considering rejuvenation options.
The difference is finding the right doctor who will do what’s in the interest of the client as opposed to a fad or for the sole purpose of gaining a new client.
