After Your Facelift

Whether you choose our most recognized TLC Liftâ„¢ or the more comprehensive TLC Premier Liftâ„¢, the success of your procedure is as much within your control as Dr. Lanfranchi’s. No other facial rejuvenation is as productive in taking years off your appearance, so following the detailed aftercare instructions only makes sense. Good preparation before your treatment can certainly improve recovery time and set you up to avoid complications. It only makes sense to take advantage of all the care instructions so you maximize the positive changes you’re about to undergo.

Sleep is Vital

How you sleep after your facelift is as important as getting enough sleep during your recovery. Elevating your head and shoulders will help reduce swelling and keep your blood pressure relaxed, which in turn minimizes bleeding complications. Try to avoid sleeping on your side to reduce pressure on the stitches placed beneath the surface of your skin which support the new position of your facial tissues. Sleeping on your back, and on the back of your head, is best. Many patients find sleeping in a reclining chair to be the most comfortable. Elevating your head is ideal for a few weeks after your procedure.

Skin and Wound Care

Adhere to all bandaging instructions, and don’t be afraid to take the pain medication you’ve been prescribed. Pain causes us to grimace, squint, and wince, and too much of this can strain the areas of your face already experiencing changes from the procedure. Swelling and discomfort can be minimized by cold compresses, but pain medication is recommended. Any procedure, no matter how minor, will result in some swelling. Do not be alarmed about swelling for the first 2-3 days after your procedure, at which point this reaction will subside.

Incisions should be washed with soap and lukewarm water 3 times daily, only patting the skin dry (do not rub). Apply any antibiotic ointment you’ve been prescribed so incisions do not become dry or scab. Be gentle when washing your hair, as many incisions are placed in the hairline to hide them. Avoid heat to the skin, such as with hairdryers or hot water, and do not apply makeup to incision sites for 10 days. When you’re well enough to venture outside, apply sunscreen to your face, paying particular attention to your incisions.

A facelift may be one of the best decisions you make, and the award winning Lanfranchi Center will be by your side throughout your transformation. At TLC, many of our patients say having a procedure in our relaxed environment with Dr. Lanfranchi’s caring bedside manner is easier than visiting a dentist. Call us for more information today.

Stellar Service from Start to Finish

Two months ago I had a lower lifestyle facial lift. I was apprehensive, but it was well worth the effort and expense. Dr. Lanfranchi and his entire staff were kind, caring and very professional, from the first meeting to the follow up appointments.

The procedure is done under a local, not general anesthetic, and it was easy. I healed quickly and am very satisfied with the results.
His fee was very reasonable. Any further facial work I want done, I will be sure to come back here.
