Facial Symmetry & Attractiveness

The face is an extraordinary thing. There are numerous features and characteristics that make up one’s face and the countless details that sets people apart from one another. Symmetry is a beautiful thing in general, but in American culture it seems to be held to an even higher standard. Facial symmetry suggests a relatively healthy childhood, free from diseases that could take a toll on the facial features causing subtle asymmetry, but facial symmetry has also become closely correlated with the attractiveness of a person’s face and beauty standards in today’s society.

What is Facial Symmetry?

Facial symmetry is where both sides of the face, left and right, are alike. The more asymmetrical, the less attractive one is considered to be. Facial symmetry is important for both males and females, however there are differing desirable traits. For example, men prefer female faces to be highly feminized, which include more childlike or baby-faced features including larger eyes and lips. On the other hand, women find men with wider jaws more attractive because wide jaws suggest strength and sexual maturity. However, both sexes tend to prefer facial features that are close to the average in terms of size and shape. So, very large or small noses, lips, and ears can be considered less attractive.

Plastic Surgery and Facial Symmetry.

Nothing in nature is perfectly symmetric. All faces have some sort of degree of asymmetry as it can increase with aging. Lucky for us, it is possible to correct extreme asymmetry through minimally invasive treatments or surgery. Facial symmetry is always the goal of plastic surgery. Dr. Lanfranchi is Board-Certified with specialty certification in Facial Plastic Surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Lanfranchi and Team TLC have been exclusively performing facial rejuvenation procedures for a decade here in Las Vegas. Unlike most general plastic surgeons, we specialize and only focus on one particular area (face and neck). Having focused and refined this facial sub-specialization for many years, we have mastered the experience, delivery, and outcomes for our patients, especially when it comes to achieving symmetry. The Lanfranchi Center’s passion and expertise in facial rejuvenation is second to none in the Valley. We genuinely believe we can deliver the highest possible quality of care, partnership, and results to our patients in the safest manner possible.

Stellar Service from Start to Finish

Two months ago I had a lower lifestyle facial lift. I was apprehensive, but it was well worth the effort and expense. Dr. Lanfranchi and his entire staff were kind, caring and very professional, from the first meeting to the follow up appointments.

The procedure is done under a local, not general anesthetic, and it was easy. I healed quickly and am very satisfied with the results.
His fee was very reasonable. Any further facial work I want done, I will be sure to come back here.
