What is Botox®?

What is a Forehead Lift?
A forehead lift or brow lift is performed to address wrinkles, skin laxity, and drooping brows. Dr. Lanfranchi performs forehead lifts under local anesthesia with medication to relax you. He uses small incisions within the hairline to lift the skin and underlying structures, focusing on the outer corners of the brow for a naturally refreshed, rejuvenated look. Dr. Lanfranchi specializes in a naturally youthful look without an artificial or startled appearance.
Forehead Lift vs. Botox®: Everything You Need to Know
While a forehead lift and Botox® can treat the same area, they are used for very different purposes. Botox® is used to address expression lines and wrinkles that form as a result of facial muscle movement. It cannot lift the skin or reverse skin laxity, and it is less effective against deep creases. It typically lasts three to four months.
A forehead lift is used to address drooping brows, sagging skin, and forehead wrinkles. Since Dr. Lanfranchi lifts the skin and underlying structures, your features look naturally refreshed and youthful. A forehead lift can raise the brows back to their original position and provide a smoother, more lifted forehead. It can last fifteen years or more.
How Long is Recovery After a Forehead Lift or Botox®?
Botox® does not require any recovery time, although some people may have minor swelling or bruising. A forehead lift is a surgical procedure that requires time to rest and heal. Most people return to low-activity jobs after about one week. Dr. Lanfranchi and his team will provide you with detailed postsurgical instructions.
Am I a Good Candidate for a Forehead Lift or Botox®?
Candidates for Botox® typically have forehead wrinkles or glabellar lines without skin laxity or sagging. Those with drooping brows, loose forehead skin, and deep creases are usually better candidates for a forehead lift. Candidates for a forehead lift need to be healthy enough for surgery, while Botox® candidates should not have an infection or active skin condition in the treatment area.
