How Long Does a Lower Eyelid Lift Last?

Do you have under-eye bags, dark circles, and puffiness that always make you look tired or sad? A lower eyelid lift can take years off your appearance. But how long does it last?

What is Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Lift)?

Blepharoplasty, also called an eyelid lift, is a procedure to rejuvenate the eye area. Many people find that the delicate skin around their eyes ages more quickly or noticeably, leaving them with wrinkles, bags, and droopy eyelids. Some patients even struggle with a limited field of vision due to sagging upper eyelids.

If you’re tired of looking tired because of your aging eyelids, Dr. Lanfranchi can help. He offers blepharoplasty for the upper, lower, or both eyelids to restore your bright, youthful appearance. Eyelid lift procedures at the Lanfranchi Center are performed under local anesthesia.

Lower Eyelid Lift vs. Upper Eyelid Lift

Depending on your concerns and needs, you can have eyelid surgery for your upper, lower, or both eyelids. The best procedure for you depends on your primary aging concerns. You may want a lower eyelid lift if you have:

  • Under-eye bags
  • Puffiness
  • Wrinkles and crepey skin under the eyes

Alternatively, an upper eyelid lift can address:

  • Droopy eyelids
  • Hooding
  • Wrinkly excess skin on the upper eyelids
  • Limited peripheral vision due to sagging eyelids

If you have all these concerns, Dr. Lanfranchi may recommend a combined upper and lower eyelid lift. He customizes the procedure to each patient’s needs.

How Long Does Lower Blepharoplasty Last?

Upper and lower blepharoplasty differ in what they treat, where the incisions are placed, and how long the results last. Any blepharoplasty procedure will likely last several years, but lower eyelid surgery generally lasts the longest. Most people never need to have a lower eyelid lift repeated. An upper eyelid lift, on the other hand, typically lasts five to seven years.

However, the longevity of your results will depend on multiple factors. Blepharoplasty can’t stop your skin from aging, but a healthy lifestyle and good skincare habits can minimize signs of aging, allowing you to enjoy longer-lasting results from your procedure. Many people enjoy lifelong benefits from a lower eyelid lift if they take good care of their skin.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Lower Eyelid Lift?

You are likely a good candidate for lower blepharoplasty if you have under-eye bags and puffiness. If you’re concerned about excessive wrinkling on the lower eyelids, a treatment like CO2 resurfacing may be beneficial in addition to blepharoplasty. Hollows under the eyes (tear troughs) may require a facial fat transfer.

During a detailed consultation, Dr. Lanfranchi will help you determine the best treatment option. Ideal candidates should be overall healthy and have realistic expectations for the results.

I am just over 5 weeks out from an upper and lower eyelift, and I’m unbelievably thrilled with the results. I’ve been wanting this procedure for a few years, but was extremely nervous about any sort of facial surgery. Dr Lanfranchi and his team made me feel so comfortable every step of the way, and I couldn’t be happier with the decision. I had a girls weekend scheduled for right after the four week recovery mark, and none of my friends could even tell, they just kept saying that I looked rested and refreshed. The results are so natural and continue to improve by the day. I highly recommend Dr Lanfranchi to anyone interested in facial rejuvenation.
