About Lower Blepharoplasty

A lower eyelid lift can also be referred to as blepharoplasty or eye bag surgery. This is a cosmetic treatment that helps correct excess fat, and loose skin of the lower eye area.

As you get older, your skin will naturally lose elasticity and fat padding. This can cause the lower eyelid to look baggy, wrinkly, and puffy. Lower blepharoplasty can cause the undereye to look more smooth, resulting in a youthful and radiant appearance.

Lower Eyelid Lift Benefits

There are a number of different benefits that are associated with having a lower eyelid lift. This includes the following:

  • Refreshed appearance – Firstly, this treatment helps to create a more refreshed appearance by enhancing the look of your eyes.
  • Enhanced vision – Any sort of sagging skin around the eye area can result in vision problems, which eyelid surgery can help to correct.
  • Say goodbye to bags – If you have bags under your eyes, it can make you look like you’re tired, even if you are getting plenty of sleep. A lower eyelid lift will eliminate the excess tissue and skin below the eye so that these baggy areas are removed.

Am I a Candidate for a Lower Eyelid Lift?

Good candidates for a lower eyelid lift are women and men who have bags under their eyes, droopy eyelids, and excessive wrinkles or skin around the eyes. If you have a puffy appearance you could be a good candidate for blepharoplasty. If you have folds or creases in the lower eyelids, you could be an ideal candidate for this treatment.

However, do note that this treatment on its own will only partially correct crow’s feet and fine lines around your eyes. If you’re experiencing any of these skin complaints, we will discuss all of your treatment options with you so that you can make an informed decision beforehand. Candidacy for treatment is something that we will discuss with you at length during your consultation, ensuring that you have realistic expectations from the treatment.

I’ve been considering eyelid surgery for a while now. My lids were starting to droop, and my right lid was even droopier because I had a non-stop twitch for over a year. I looked at just about every eyelid surgery review on Real Self (thank you all for posting!) and ended up booking a couple of consultations. I decided to go with Dr. Lanfranchi…he was more expensive but he and his staff were so professional and made me feel comfortable. I had the procedure on October 13…I’m still in the healing process but I am so pleased with my progress so far. I think my right eye is still a little swollen, but the bruising is almost completely gone and the scar is healing nicely. Overall, very pleased!
